Expo - The archive of Piet Stockmans

Signing session

Piet Stockmans is exhibiting his complete work in the retrospective exhibition ‘The archive'

For the first time in his rich career and life, Piet Stockmans is openinghis
archive to the public.
The retrospective exhibition 'the archive' offers a unique glimpse into
the life and work of the designer and artist from 1963 till 2010.

The archive exhibition is a chronological route with video fragments.
Visitors get to know the artist, industrial designer and craftsman Piet Stockmans.
The focus is on who Stockmans exactly is, where he comes from and what has shaped him.
You can see the evolution in his work, and in how people looked at porcelain.

Stockmans' oeuvre - and thus his archive - is very versatile,
and ranges from research into installations of 10,000ths of crucibles
from jewels in porcelain to keep precious memories alive
to the iconic Sonja cup that he designed in 1967 for the Maastricht porcelain factory.
Mosa and of which some 50 million had already been sold by 1986.

The exhibition runs until the end of 2026.
