Creativity

Creativity is not held back by material

Everyone has limitations, even if only their own creativity has its limits. There is no good reason why young artists cannot create work if they have material limitations.

I am often approached about the material porcelain being higher-quality than other ceramic objects, as if that would enhance the quality of the work. My response to this is that there are beautiful jewels in paper and ugly ones in gold. Conversely, I have often been told that this traditional material is too fraught with its history and that you could not make anything new with it. Surely it is too crazy that a material should be the cause of making good or bad work. There have simply been too few good artists working with porcelain. Materials only have a value if someone puts their soul into it.
